Finding a space to ‘work from home’

Woman In a Traffic jam

During a recent survey conducted by the Office for National Statistics it was revealed that for those people that commuted it had a negative impact on their personal well-being with the worst effects on happiness and anxiety. With the recent floods and storms adding to the mix, commuters have had no end of misery with trying to get to and from their places of work.

Although working from home is not suitable for everyone it can help others cut down the number of journeys they have to make to the office, saving not only on time but also on money.

New homes that are being built are more and more frequently being designed with the inclusion of a home office room that is separate from the main living areas. For those living in older properties and that have the space available, many spare rooms or unused rooms are being turned over to home offices.

Of course having a study or home office within your home can be the perfect solution to working from home but there are also other options available that can totally separate your home life to your working life.

Adding a garden room or ‘shed’ in the garden could add not only value to your home but can also give you the added benefit of getting away from the house altogether to give you privacy and space.

Office at home with Shutters

There are many different options available and depending on the facilities that you would like to have included it can be as cheap and cheerful or as expensive as you wish it to be. With increasing numbers of people working from home the designs and styles of garden sheds have become much wider giving you greater options that suit all shapes and sizes of gardens.

The basic facilities will probably include insulation and electricity but you can also add many other features such as heating, plumbing and networks. Ensuring that your space has adequate lighting and ventilation will also help to make your home office a comfortable environment for you to work in.  If you have the space you could add a separate seating area, a kitchenette or even a bathroom.

You may also consider adding window shutters to your home office space. Shutters will help you to control the lighting and ventilation in your room and with the added benefits of security and privacy, shutters could really add the final touch to your room. We have many various designs, shapes and styles available that will help make your home office unique and stylish just for you.
